Grant Writing Workshops

The Sturt ACC is sponsoring free grant writing workshops which will demonstrate how success in securing funding is the direct result of strategic planning, consultation, relationships and negotiation with the funding application the formality that ties the many strings together. The workshops target members of local community organisations and clubs who are keen to develop an understanding of the planning and the process necessary for increasing grant success rates. The workshops will be conducted by Anne Petch.

Anne brings a wealth of experience as the chair of a regional funding body for six years and in 2004 she successfully established the External Funding Coordinator role for the Adelaide City Council. Anne is a mentor for the South Australian Youth Entrepreneur Scheme (SAYES) and is a Fellow 2002 of The Governor's Leadership Foundation. In 2007 Anne was a joint recipient of LGA SA, Research & Development Funding to produce the Sourcing External Funding Partnerships Tool Kit for use by Local Councils.

Sturt ACC transition to RDA Sturt

Sturt ACC - along with other ACC’s - has been asked to provide advice about improving the engagement of regional communities, regional development organisations and local government with the Australian Government. We are conducting two regional community forums; holding one on one meetings with, or seeking direct responses from, key stakeholders; using information gathered from the recent Regional Expos we sponsored, and, undertaking an on-line survey.

The information gathered will enable us to formulate our recommendations for the role, charter, boundaries, structure, membership and reporting requirements of the new Regional Development Australia (RDA) Committees which will operate from 1 January 2009.

The Australian Government has also asked for advice about the principals and priorities for a new Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program that will commence in July 2009, and the priorities for the types of local community infrastructure that could encourage economic growth.

For further information please contact Simon Millcock, Executive Officer on 8562 2511 or 0417 867 601 or simon.millcock@sturtacc.org.au
